The Word and The Enemy

‘You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word’ Psalm 119:114.

Whether we like it or not, if we are faithful to Jesus we will have enemies.  If we take too much notice of our enemies then we will cease to be faithful to Christ.

Like the 10 faithless men who spied out of Canaan, if we look at the enemy and ourselves we will be discouraged and want to quit. You can’t be double minded and get God’s approval.

To be faithful to God, means we will trust Him as our Protector, He will uphold us when we are obedient and in time He will reject our enemies who will receive their just desserts. The psalmist reminds us to fear and revere God alone because:

‘You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word’ Psalm 119:114.
