Stand Firm

I have a friend whose world was once shaken. What she had always known to be true was no longer the case.

At 11:56 am on 25 April 2015 my friend’s world changed while she was on top of a mountain range in Nepal. That was the day when the world that she had always known to be secure, steady and strong shook because of an earthquake.

Even the most steadfast of things in this world can sway; God’s word however is resolute. As God’s people we are called to stand firm on his word. In this week’s passage Paul tells us that the Thessalonians became so devoted in their lives to God that despite suffering and persecution they held fast to the word of God.

So today, let us consider what it means for us to be firmly shackled to God’s word as we live lives for him.
