The writers of the four gospels have given us ‘snapshots’ of Jesus’ life on earth.
Matthew wrote to the Jews to show how Jesus fulfilled prophecy. Mark wrote to the busy pagans of the day, the Romans. Luke wrote to the Greeks and John wrote to both Jews and gentiles.
Matthew wanted to show that Jesus is the King, Mark shows that Jesus is the Servant, Luke writes to show Jesus as the Son of Man while John wants to show that Jesus is the Son of God and believing in him you can have eternal life (John 20:31). In John 1, Jesus is introduced as the Word (logos) – the word of God, the purpose and meaning of life. He is the Life, the Light, the One and only, who invites us to be his adopted children. What a great privilege and opportunity to know God as Our Heavenly Father!!
John 1:12. “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God”.
