God’s discipline is an act of his love (Hebrews 12), a tool he uses to mature his children. A judge punishes a criminal in order to uphold the law, but a father disciplines his children in order to build character.
In the meantime Jeremiah prays. He is honest enough to tell God what he and the people are feeling, but he prays and begs God for deliverance and that Israel would come to their senses and repent of their ways.
The Lord is always faithful to his covenant either to bless the obedient or to chastise the disobedient.
Be thankful that God always has our best interests in mind!
Lamentations 4:22 Your punishment will end, Daughter Zion; he will not prolong your exile.
